Pick my route home!

Right now I’m about to head out the door to Wheeling, WV, my last stop on the trip. I’ll be there for but a day. On Friday morning I’ll be heading out to New Berlin, PA.

But how will I get there?

You, dear readers, should pick it.

The choices are (everything starts with US 40)

-US 40/National Road to US 522 North (goes into Maryland )
-US 40/National Road to US 30/Lincoln Highway to US 522 North (basically how I got to Wheeling at the start of my trip)
-US 40/National Road to US 11 through Shippensburg and Carlise.
-US 40/National Road to US 22 to PA 45 (hilly and rural)
-Or some other fun combination.

Anyone? I plan on making a day of it. Interstates are not out of the question to quickly change routes, but I’d rather keep off of them for longer stints.

So check out a map and get back to me. I’ll be leaving Wheeling on Friday morning.

How about U.S. 40 to U.S. 11/15 and THEN PA 147? Live dangerous; ) I was reading your last few posts and Bob Seger’s “Turn The Page” came to mind. It made me think of how fun I thought it would be to take the PA Turnpike back from Pittsburgh all the way to Harrisburg. Or U.S. 22 through Lewistown and then 522 to Middleburg and then, PA 35 is it? to New Berlin?

Hm… I’ve done all of those before. :) Hmm… It’s hard to find a route that I’ve not beaten to death like every Bob Seger song…

rt 40 to rt 22 to rt 45 sounds like fun. It would be a new area that you have not seen. And you go by a town named Clyde. (His grandfathers name). As you near Altoona at Summit on the map says Allegeny portage railroad national historic site. It is the first railroad tunnel in the USA! It has a museum in an old tavern that was a railroad stop for travels. Have fun and take your time. Enjoy, savory all you see.

This is perfect! And you can actually do most of it. Well, walking. There’s Braddock’s road, for one. And probably some hiking trail. I bet the scooter could take it.
