Hey Eric,
I’ve been following you online for the past couple of years and your scoot66 has left me in awe of such an epic adventure. Very cool. I rate scoot66 blog up with any great cross country adventure novel out there…
Anyways, my wife and I are planning a 1.5 week road trip. Im wanting to take the amtrak up north and find a quite little island off the coast of maine to relax and ride bikes but she is wanting to stay further south around nashville and/or williamsburg virginia (we have friend/family in both). I want to find a quite little place on http://www.airbb.com in a town that is quant, quite, accessible by bike and interesting. In all your travels have you found a place that you wanted to bunker down for several days and just take in the culture and surroundings?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Matt!
Thanks so much!
Mostly, I’m not a destination-oriented kind of traveler. I’m there for the journey. That said, I’ve found quite a few places that just thrilled me.
Albuquerque is one of them. I spent a few days there and loved it. Sarah and I nearly moved there instead of Seattle. Also, Salt Lake City. Spent a horrible week there and I STILL found it pretty great.
Those spots are definitely too far away from the east coast for a week and a half trek. I did like New Hampshire, quite a bit, though. Part of Mass., too. Mostly, I go for the history. Washington County Maryland’s got lots. It’s a nice enough trip.
