Parts arrived! Now it’s time to put it all back together

I just got my box of replacement parts from SPD in Texas. Everything is there and I’m gearing up (heh! get it?) to reinstall everything.

The two books I’ll be using are the Vespa P200 Haynes Manual and Bob Darnell’s How to Restore and Maintain Your Vespa Motorscooter. Mostly I’ll be using the Darnell book.

Next to the books and under the parts are all the gaskets I could ever need. When you split the cases and move stuff around, you need to replace the seals.

On top of the gaskets are the three new gears, 4th, 3rd and 2nd. On top of the books is the new selector box (the gray thing) and on either side of the selector box is the clutch holding tool and the castle nut tool. Also, for the carb, I got a float, a float needle (the tiny brass piece) and a #116 main jet (the tinier brass piece).

I do still need a cruciform and I’ll be calling around to the shops in town to see if anyone has one. If they do, I’ll start in on the project very shortly. If not, I’ll order one from somebody.

I’ve got a feeling that re-assembly is going to be a bit more difficult than dis-assembly. It will probably be more involved than simply “reverse the steps to put it all back together.”
