Hot Sun Beating on a Black Top – Road Trip Mix

This mix is a bit different that your typical mix. Think of it as a mix tape on a CD – or in this case, on MP3.

When I was a kid, I’d make mix tapes for everyone. I wouldn’t just slap a bunch of songs on a 90 minute tape and call it a mix. There’d be songs, of course, that’s the bread and butter of any mix. But what would make a mix tape a good mix tape were the extras.

On my mixes, there would be random samples, odd bits of sound, one song easing into the next – stuff like that.

I always wanted a mixer when I was young. I figured that it would add another level to the mix. And while I was never able to get one way back then, I basically have one now.

With the use of audio editing software I can do everything I’ve always wanted to do and more!

This mix is a mix tape, plain and simple. It’s got a bunch of songs, but only two tracks: side one and side two – that and it’ll fit on an 80 minute CD.

These songs remind me of the road. Most directly relate to transportation in some way or another while some seem to have no connection at all with traveling. That’s okay, they don’t all need to be about the road for it to be a decent road trip mix.

I think you’ll enjoy this, I know I enjoyed doing it.

Oh it’s there, but not on side one. I screwed up. It’s only on side two. I’ll have a fixed jpg of it up tomorrow.

I think you’ll like this one – though how I did a road mix without a Dead song is beyond me.
