A little trip to Pike Public Market

Ashley is visiting us once again and so there are things to do. One thing is visiting the Pike Public Market. I don’t normally go there unless people are visiting. Weird, huh? It’s a pretty neat place, but it’s downtown and I don’t usually venture to that sector of the world unless I have to. Yesterday, I was glad to.

However, our morning started off with Religious Guy.

Religious Guy!

Around 8:20am, Sarah looked out the window and said, “hey, I think there’s a Jesus guy outside! Look!” Ashley and I scurried over to the window and sure enough, there he was, on his knees with his arms up in the “touchdown/praise” position.

He remained like that for about a minute. Then he sort of crossed himself. He did the horizontal crossing normally, but then made a fist for the vertical part, bring his hand down. He repeated this ten or so times and then stood up.

And then went back to his knees, crossing himself a few more times.

Then he stood up again and walked inside his house. I guess he lives there.

Now, what was all this about? I’m all for public professions of faith, if that’s what you want to do, but I’ve never seen anything like this before. Fun, huh?

Well after that, Ryan, the kids, Ashley, Smartz and I went to Wayward Vegan Cafe for a delightful bit of brunch/breakfast.

Smartz had to go to work, so the remaining folks piled in Ryan’s car and hit the Market.

There was some street fair thing going on and Ashley ended up knowing three people there, which was three more people than either Ryan or myself knew.

The walk through downtown was nice, I don’t get to do that much, but always seem to enjoy it. I’m not sure if I could live there – even living where I do, I get bugged by the noise of traffic when the windows are open. Sometimes I sort of freak out.

Anyway, here are some pictures with captions for you to look at and read. You want to, I know this.
