In the NIV translation of the The Bible, God is &quot;he.&quot;  
I personally like capitalizing &quot;He&quot; when it refers to any deity. For one, it&#039;s much easier to differentiate who is talking. When it&#039;s He, it&#039;s God, when it&#039;s he, it&#039;s not. Very simple. 

All in all, it seems like this could be highly politicized. That&#039;s never a good thing.</description>

I wasn&#039;t aware of the trend to de-capitalize pronouns. Maybe it&#039;s less pronounced in Sufism. We get in enough trouble calling Him &quot;Friend, Beloved.&quot;  Reducing the Him to him is pushing our luck.

Appropriate verse from Rumi that this reminded me of:

&quot;Learn from Ali how to fight 
 without your ego participating...
 I am God&#039;s lion, not the lion of passion
 I have no longing but for the One&quot;</description>
