Almost there… stay on target…

Not a whole lot to say, but I do have some pics!

Here I am in the car hole with Servo all in pieces. I'm painting!

And here's the hover skirt with black trains around it. You can also see the arms!

Here I am as an old man painting the pistons on the engine block of Servo's body. Exciting!

After all those goings ons, you can see me assembling. He's not nearly completed though. Still quite a bit of work to do.

Hey, it looks like YOU can paint!

    Pretty nifty…

You know, I did surprise myself a bit. And for a second I even entertained the idea of painting my deities. But there’s a whole universe of difference between Tom Servo and GOD!

Still though, with a bit of training… who knows…

I think you could do it. I will however, keep asking around.

    He’s coming along.

I would love to try, but I have nothing to go on and no guidance. If I had a painter who could show me how, I’d do it. but then, if I had a painter who knew how to do it, I’d have them do it.

    I’m like that.

If you can’t paint God, there is always model railroading. Is there a kit for Crow too? I imagine the Mike Nelson kit would just be a Cheesehead you’d have to pick up at the bus terminal.

Hmm.. I’ve thought about model railroading. I just don’t have the space for it.

This wasn’t a kit, really. Some guy makes some of the parts and sells the others and some parts you have to get yourself from Home Depot or something.

For Crow, it’s a lot more involved. I don’t really want Crow at this point.

As for Mike, I saw a Frankenstein model at the hobby shop the other day. I bet it would be easy to alter it.

I was actually trying to figure out the components of Tom Servo. I recognize the bubble gum machine. The shoulders look like the bulb shrouds from a flashlight my parents had. I had thought the barrel body was a reference to the old Barrel Full O Monkeys toy…

    ericNo Gravatar Reply:

Correct on the first two. The barrel was from a bank called the “Money Lover Barrel.” The bowl was a Halloween “Boo” bowl, but there are many others like it. The engine block is from a toy car that literally nobody has been able to find. The black trains on the skirt are vacuforms of a Tyco train. The springs are from some creepy doll that moons you and the hands are from a dummy of some sort.

I think that about covers it.

Most everything, except for the bowl and the gumball machine are resin castings (engine block, hands, lid and barrel) or vacuformed plastic (shoulders and trains).

hmmm… a doll that moons you, how enchanting.

    ericNo Gravatar Reply:

Yep. It was the C. More Bunz doll. Wasn’t really a doll in the traditional sense (in that it mooned you), but that’s where his arms and, I think, shoulders come from.

    You can see it here.

Any relation to the designer of the hospital gown?

    ericNo Gravatar Reply:

I’m pretty sure, yes. It mostly goes without saying.
