The Moving Trip Day One – a very Civil War day

Battle, ok?The first day of our trip across the country! We hit Gettysburg first, visiting one of my favorite places. This town and battlefield hold a lifetime’s worth of memories for me (or more?).

After spending a little over an hour driving around the field, we drove to Hagerstown to pick up Jeff who accompanied us to the Cedar Creek Reenactment. The reenactment was good. A little smaller than usual, but it’s an off year (144th anniversary).

Finding ourselves with a bit of time, we drove to Antietam. I wasn’t sure that I would have time to see it again before leaving. But alas, I did! Wonderful! We were there till dusk, retiring to Hagerstown for the night.

Tomorrow will take us down US 40 to Wheeling, West Virginia and New Vrndavana for a couple of days, visiting our dear friends before leaving for Seattle.

Would you like to see some pictures of today?
Good.

Do that here.

Can I just say that Hagerstown MD is one of the few under-appreciated places I’ve ever been to?

It really is. The whole of Washington County is, to be honest. But Hagerstown for sure. Their park is wonderful.
