Pack it in and a day full of insane

Today was spent shoving everything from the cargo van into a 6×7x8 foot shipping container. Last night, we loaded it up. Today we drove it to Carisle where the container was.

When we saw the damn thing, we were sure that we couldn’t fit everything in it. But to our delight, everything fit just fine with room to spare!

Since we were in Carisle, we (read: I) decided that we should stop in at the Army Heritage Center. I’ve been there once before and wanted to see it again before I left. It certainly wasn’t top on my list, but since we were already there, why not?

Basically, the Army Heritage Center has large displays of landscapes of America’s wars. Now, this sounds lame or even creepy, but trust me, it’s not.

The Civil War display is hopefully under construction because, quite frankly, it’s horrible. They do have some Civil War living quarters and those are very well done. Also, they’ve got WW2 barracks, WW1 trenches, a French and Indian War fort, a Rev War fort and some other stuff, all very amazing. If you are in the area, check it out. It’s free and hardly anyone is ever there.

Tomorrow is the first day of the trip west. We will be stopping in Gettysburg, Hagerstown (to pick up Jeff for the day), Antietam, the Cedar Creek Reenactment. We’ll be taking Jeff back to Hagerstown and staying the night there.

The original plan was to stay with Rati and Dwija for the night, but since it would be a four and a half hour drive and we wouldn’t get in till very late, we’ll just be showing up at New Vrndavana on Sunday mid-morning. This is so they don’t have to stay up till all hours waiting for us and then stay up even later talking. I’m really, really, REALLY going to miss that. And them. I’m going to miss them a lot.

Ok! You can check out my pics from today if you like…
