Odd observation about my blog

You know… I talk about scooters, Krishna, sometimes historical stuff and that’s about it. I’d love to know who reads my *whole* blog. Who sits at their computer and says, “ouuu Eric’s tearing apart his carb!..” and then the next day says, “hey! Eric went to a Ratha-yatra and it was awesome!” and then, “YES! The grave of Stonewall Jackson’s arm!!” Seriously, who am I writing this for?

But whatever, I seem to have quite a good number of readers. If you only like to read the scooter stuff, that’s ok. Only the Krishna stuff? That all posts to PlanetISKCON – so you don’t have to wade through the other nonsense! And only travels and history? Well, I wish I could do more for you there. Hope you enjoyed the Civil War Trip. Sadly, that will be the last of its kind for years.

I thought about having just a scooter blog, especially since I won’t have a car. Maybe someday I’ll do that. But I sort of like having everything in one place. This is me. I like scooters, Krishna and traveling to see historic stuff. I also like poetry, photography, long walks on the beach and funny songs. You’ll get all of that too.

Whatever keeps you coming back, thanks! I lead sort of a loner style life – knowing that a bunch of people like to read about it makes it seem less loner (ie. lonely).

Maybe I should talk about politics more. Sometimes I do, but mostly not. I used to be really political – and still am, though not in an annoying way.

Speaking of annoying politics, I’ve been following the election quite closely. I’ve also been keeping my barf bag close at hand. For a long time, I was a big fan of the Daily Show. It was the closest thing to satire you could get. But at this point, they’re so pro-Obama, it’s simply not even funny. Yes, I get it, Sarah Palin is a dumb ass.

Many of my friends have found themselves as Obama supporters. By and large, Obama supporters as a group are amazingly annoying in a cult-like way. I should know a bit about that, shouldn’t I? But seriously, McCain supporters are getting closer to being every bit as annoying. Yet, I somehow doubt they’ll eclipse the way cool awesome revolution that is The Cult of Obama.

With the election so near, both candidates have stopped talking about their own shaky stand on the issues, turning to fear mongering instead. Obama says that if McCain gets elected, we’re all majorly super fucked. McCain says that if Obama gets elected, we’re all majorly super fucked!

Know, what? They’re both right.

The lesser of two evils cannot defeat the greater evil.
Hint: The greater evil is not the other guy.

See? I can be political.

Or perhaps a better solution...

Politics is just another made up religion anyway. You could swap the Civil War for Pirates. The Pacific Northwest was discovered by one Sir Francis Drake. Perhaps you could talk more about Betamax on Little Black Star, or weigh in on the the delays in implementing the Metric system in the U.S. I think Beer and Pretzels are under-appreciated on your blog too.

Calder,

I had some beer and pretzels the other night and thought, “Calder would make a joke about this. . . “

HA! Well, I do see the error of my ways. :)
I guess I’m just trying to find ways to be political and not annoying.
But I’m not really sure that’s possible!

What can I say, Eric, you’re an interesting guy. You can even make scooter repairs interesting. Well, at least interesting enough for a couple of paragraphs. :-)

It’s always fascinating to find out what Eric wrote about today.

You know, I’m always curious about that myself. :)
