Bloomsburg Fair for me!

Last night Sarah and I took in the Bloomsburg Fair. I was there two years ago and probably won’t be there for years and years.

While driving through Bloomsburg, people were a bit crazy, but two stuck out as particularly… weird. We were driving down some street and I look to my right to see a guy taking his shirt off and another guy taking pictures of him. It was pretty weird. I tried to get a picture, but didn’t do so well.

Not sure if that makes me weirder – taking a picture of a guy taking a picture of a shirtless guy. Who knows.

It being Saturday, it was packed. But that didn’t stop us from getting some pretty poorly made lemonade and cactus fries, which are pretty amazing (they’re also known as ribbon fries).

We hear that an Elvis impersonator was going to be on the free stage, but when we got there, it was some lame Alan Jackson impersonator who wouldn’t stop singing. We left before Elvis showed up.

One thing that I really wanted to do was catch the sideshow. This year was definitely not a let down. Sure, it’s hokey and “fake,” but who cares? It’s three bucks for a good half hour of entertainment! I was digging the whole thing. And how couldn’t you? Sword swallowers, a bed of nails, fire eaters, pretty girls and Pooba!

Pooba is a little person. He was in the Wizard of Oz (at age nine) and has been performing every since. It’s sad to think that I may never see him again. Unless Seattle has a county fair where they show up. But I doubt it.

What a fun time!

It was getting dark and a little chilly, so we got some kettle corn and took in Stanky and the Coal Miners, a local polka group. They created a small dance floor and lots of folks took to dancing! I love seeing two old Polish ladies dancing together. It’s really cute.

All in all, what a great night! Take a look at the pictures!
