Moving dates and hows

A few days ago, I posted about some problems with moving and how to get my stuff to Seattle. Mostly, that’s been sorted out.

The date of the move is October 15(ish). It’s quite a bit later than I wanted to move, but the extra time isn’t all bad.

dirtbikes in a relocube! The question of how to get everything there was easily answered by ABF and their ReloCubes. For about $1200, I can ship whatever I can fit into an 6′x7′x8′ cargo container. That will easily fit the scooter, my books and other stuff. It’ll also fit Sarah’s stuff. Everything we own can fit into that space. Pretty much.

This is good news. I was going to ship the books via media mail, which is cheap, but I’m always afraid that they’ll lose something. That was going to cost $400+. To ship the scooter would cost around $600. We also figured out that to get a trailer would cost nearly $500 with the hitch installation. Also the extra gas would cost us around $150. This ReloCube method is cheaper and almost easier.

We have to bring everything to the terminal in Camp Hillish area, but oh well.

And then we’ll drive across the country, leaving Oct 15, stopping in New Vrndavana before we go. Chicago the next night and then who knows. We’ll hopefully beat the ReloCube to the west coast.

This means that I get to cross the country for a third time this year! I’m almost excited by that. If we didn’t have to take interstates the whole way, I’d be a lot more excited.

We’ll probably make it to Seattle on Oct 20 or 21. Just in time for Halloween and rain rain rain.
