No water at Halfway Dam!

My pop and I decided to ride the scooters up to Halfway Dam (R.B. Winter State Park). When we got there, we noticed that all of the water was gone. Looks like it’s been gone for a few days.

There’s a small stream (Rapid Run) that is still trickling through the lake bed, but that’s about it.

I moronically forgot my camera, but took these with my phone. Sorry the pics are kind of crappy, not much I could do.

The reason that I heard was that they were going to make some repairs to the “south wall” and had to drain the lake to do it.

You can click the pic to make it slightly bigger and then click it again to make it slightly more bigger. Enjoy!

Weird, huh?

Here’s what it normally looks like…

I enjoyed the pictures of Halfway Dam, fond memories of no matter how hot the summer was, the water was always cold enough to curl toes. That Dragnet clip was quite nice too. I’m thinking of a different one, with the dead baby. I think that one had to do with Marijuana.

Marijuana kills babies… DEAD!

I remember swimming at Halfway Dam and feeling cold spots where the springs bubbled up into the water. That was one amazingly cold place. Even colder than the Pacific Ocean, I think. I was there almost every weekend.

That’s funny, as I was comparing the Pacific in China to Halfway Dam in the chill factor. Granted, it’s all the same in late November, but still it was just as cold.
