Jerry’s Dead!

Jerry Reed died yesterday at 71. Most of you reading this probably don’t know who he was, and I admit, I hadn’t heard many of his songs.

The one I heard most while I was growing up was “East Bound and Down” which was the theme song to Smokey and the Bandit (Jerry played Snowman in that movie).

He had a bunch of really popular songs in the late 70’s, early 80’s country music scene and I vaguely remember seeing him on HeeHaw when I was a kid. One song that I remembered was “She Got The Goldmine (I Got the Shaft).” And maybe.. just maybe that formed my views on marriage…
