    I guess I should explain a little.

First, the picture. It is a picture of Lord Caitanya and devotees performing “harinama,” chanting the names of God. The Hare Krishnas do this quite a lot.

“Harinama” is pronounced “hari-nom” – the last “a” is silent.

    Here’s a clip of a harinama!

The “nama nama nama” thing … and the post as a whole… is a little homage to LOLcats. LOLcats is a website that features funny cats doing funny things with funny captions. They basically have their own language. Within this language is the word “nom.” “Nom” is often expressed “nom nom nom” and, according to speaklolspeak.com, is “the sound a cat (or another lolcreature) makes while eating.”

    See?

    Here are some more!

HA! Awesome, franz! I’m glad someone got it. I nearly shot milk out my noise when I thought of this.

I haven’t had milk for about eight years!

    I find myself fairly amusing…

I know! I thought for sure you and i were the only (ahankar here) Vaishnavas-in-training who would get it! But here comes Rati!
    The possibilities are endless.
How does one make lolbhaktas on pre-existing pics. I have lots of pics of me and my family at temple that would be hilarious (at least to the three of us).

I was thinking of one with my son stuffing his face with burfees while I look bored and tough at the camera.

i believe the ‘nom nom nom’ was actually pilfered by lolcats from cookie monster, the supreme personality of NOM NOM NOM.

he’s been nom nom nom-ing for about as long as the lolbhaktas of iskcon.

just wanted to give credit where it was due, although cookieji is not puffed up in that way.

That’s true. I think it’s come from Sriman Cookie Monster prabhu. All glories!
