How summer travel plans evolve (update)

While my plans for the summer of 2007 crashed in some historic ways, it hasn’t detered me from planning ahead for this upcoming spring/summer/fall.

I’m in the process of selling all three of my scooters and my bus (maybe) and have bought a Vespa GTS250. It is super reliable and can easily carry me wherever I need to be.

And so my schedule seems to be…

Late Feb – Buy Car, Do taxes, etc.

March - Sell bus & scooters. Time in West Virginia, mostly. Last day in Lewisburg Apt., 31st.

April - Pick up scooter, ride to WV on first warm weekend. Small trips here and there when able to. Perhaps an abbreviated version of the southern trip.

May - Start Scoot 66 on the 2nd. It will be a 45 day trip to California and back on my Vespa.

June - On 66 trip till June 14. Recovering after that.

July - 1st – 4th in Gettysburg. Maybe another short trip if insane enough to do so. Make final preparations/find apartment, etc in Wheeling.

Aug - 1st – move in and begin new life. Weird, huh?

So I guess I should explain a few things. Yes, I am buying a car. A new car. Probably a Toyota Yaris. And yes, I am selling the bus. It’s been broken down for three months now. I’m pretty tired of that. Two or three of the trips have been canceled. I don’t have the money to do them and I want to get settled in WV before October.

I am still doing Scoot 66. I’m taking a return route through the northern tier states. Those are the only continental states that I have never been do. After that trip, I’ll have been to all 48 states. Cool, eh?

July is up in the air because I don’t know how beat I’ll be after Scoot 66. I have a feeling I’ll be totally beat to hell and skip Gettysburg and just get ready for the move on Aug 1. I may do a short trip in August depending on things.
