I have to move now.

On Friday night, the power in my apartment went off. No fun. Luckily, they fixed my radiator and I had some heat.

The electric company visited and found out that someone (not me) stuck a 40 amp fuse where a 15 amp fuse was to be. Meaning that my apartment should only have 15 amps pumping to it, but we blew a 40 amp fuse, so we were over 40. If I blew a 40 amp on a 15 amp line, chances are there’s a huge fire hazard.

My landlord, Bob (who really is a great guy) told me that I can stay there, but it would probably be best (safest) for me to move.

This all adds up to one of two things.

1) Stay there without hot plates, fridge, extra heaters (the radiator is ok when it’s 25 – 30 degrees… but it will get a lot colder than that this winter). Bob is fine with me staying, but I can’t use much electricity.

2) Move.

Now, moving seems like the smartest option. But here is why it may not be.
- I have no car. Therefore, I can’t get a place outside of town, like a motel or something. No way to get to work.
- I’ll only be here for a couple of months, very few people rent on a month to month basis here.
- I’m only paying $150/mo for rent. I can’t afford much more than that. This is, by far, the cheapest place in town.

I don’t know what to do. And I’ve not even thought about stuff like internet, etc.

Sure, I could buy a car, but I don’t have any money for a down payment. I was going to do that after I got the money from selling the store. That won’t happen until Feb 1. No car means I have to stay within walking distance of the store.

The reason I want to make a large down payment is because it makes my monthly payments much smaller. I’d like to keep the monthlies around $120 with no early pay penalties. I’d like to put $5000 or $6000 down. Yeah, I could take out a loan to cover that. But that would be taking out a loan to get a loan. That just seems…. wrong. Anyone have five or six grand they want to borrow me till Feb 1?

I will be placing the scooters on Ebay very shortly. I won’t get as much for them, but I need to get rid of them ASAP. Same with the bus, though I have no idea how to go about that since it’s STILL at the garage (three months and counting, yeah, thanks). I want to have all of them sold by Feb 15. I want to have my taxes done by then too. And I want to have a new car by then. Because on Feb 15, I’m loading up what I need and moving to WV (if Dwija and Rati will have me).

Then, my summer plans have changed a bit, but more on that tomorrow.

For now, I will be in my apartment for at least a week. This coming week is supposed to be warmer. During this week, I’ll try to work something out.

Edit: Let me reiterate that I am *not* being evicted. Bob, my landlord, is perfectly fine with me living there all winter. But I can’t have a hot plate, fridge or extra heaters due to fire hazard. Also, things will get pretty chilly come mid-winter.
