Update on the homefront? Yes, let’s!

And so we shall.

As most of the regular readers may have noticed, in the past several weeks, the blog has taken a decidedly spiritual turn. I like this.

The reason that it’s done this is because I’m trying to focus my life a bit more. This is how I do it. Also, my blog has been picked up by PlanetISKCON.com. It collects and spits out a bunch of Hare Krishna blogs. All of my Krishna-related posts also get sent there.

But some, like this one, don’t. As most of the regular readers may also have noticed, not a whole hell of a lot is happening in my life right now. I’m trying to write everyday, but with nothing really happening, that’s tough.

I’ve kind of been in a grumpy rut lately. Not all the time, but for a good chunk of it. Today, for example, I sort of handed Olivia her ass. And while everything I said was true and we’re fine, it shouldn’t have been directed at her. I hate it when all that pissy frustration with someone or something builds up and you stupidly focus it on someone that’s clearly not the problem. Thankfully, I didn’t say anything that I didn’t mean or wasn’t on my mind. And, oddly, in response to what I said, she said “way to go, eric! It’s about time you said something!” Indeed.

And in other news…

My bus is still in the shop. It’s not looking good, but I have no more info than I had before. In this case, no news is NOT good news.

There is someone coming in a couple of weeks to look at the store. This person is looking to specifically buy a bookstore. This could be a really good thing. Cross your fingers, pray, hope, dance or whatever you do. I really need to sell. Really, really.

John came into the bookstore today bearing gifts of FOUR Cookies N Cream Clif Bars. God bless you, John! May your karma/dharma/farma smile upon you! Or something like that. Thanks!

And speaking of food, I ain’t got much left. Because of the construction on Market Street, business has been slow. When business is slow, money isn’t coming in. When money isn’t coming in, I still have to pay bills, so what suffers is the silly little things like food. I’ve got two days worth of food left. Maybe three. Pasta and probably taco stuff. Actually… no taco stuff. I’m out of TVP. Hm. Well this changes things. I’ll have to scrounge money. I’ve done it before, it’s just a bit harder now. It’ll turn out ok. Thursdays and Fridays are usually busier days at the store, so I should be able to swing something. Lately, it’s been Clif Bars. Heh. Not as bad as it could be, of course.

So I should have food by this weekend. I’m ready for a couple of days off of work. I’m pretty much hating it at this point. Like today, some fanboy came into my store and literally LAUGHED at me because the store was so small. He was a real dick. It took every molecule of dignity that I have to not say something like, “Listen, fanboy, this is why you will never ever have a girlfriend. This is why you still live in your parents’ basement. This is why you are overweight and will die pointless and alone from a heart attack at age 42!!” But I didn’t. I gave him a dirty look and called him an asshole. No, not my best work (no matter which way you define “best”), but just another reason why I’m totally not liking the store.

See, if I worked at some crap retail place like Borders or whatever, I wouldn’t care if some pimply fanboy made fun of the store. It’s not MY store. But this is my store. And while I don’t want to be here, I built this and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let a self-righteous troll of a geek belittle what I’ve done. No way.

Well… I digress. And I’ll leave you with Charlie…

I like that you’ve been doing more spiritual stuff especially since most of my KC online buds either no longer post or can’t be bothered to start a blog. Congrats on the pick up by PlanetISKCON.com.

As for the tard that came in to your shop… well let’s be glad he will never procreate. If some chance in hell he does we know they will be riding the short bus.

Thanks! I’m liking the new change too. It makes me feel like I’m actually doing something. … Now I just have to actually be doing something. :)

I couldn’t believe how smug that guy was. What could he possibly have to be smug about?!

Another possibility is to list some of the books from your store on here – some of us might buy some of the stuff online. Also Herc, kick me your paypal address as well.

UPDATE ON UPDATE!

Last night I was able to get some food. The past two days were fairly good days at the store. Today is Ekadasi anyway, so it’s just fruit and an experimental cauliflower/squash (I think it’s a squash) dish.

Tomorrow I make the chili.

As for friends who have offered to help, that simply isn’t necessary. Thanks tons and oodles, but I’ll have to respectfully decline.

Haribol!

Alright brother – but if you ever need anything let Cori and i know. We are always willing to help someone out when we can.

As for the books, have you thought about listing some of the interesting ones? There is always a list of things i am looking for from a used shop – heck, there are books i’m looking for new. I could order from some faceless entity online, from a corporate chain in town, or from a friend. I’ll give you three guesses to figure out my preferred option. :p

I’ve been enjoying your KC posts.
Also is there a way to make an online store for your books?

Oh, and that Charlie unicorn video…eerie and SICK! Thanks for the disturbing giggle.

When are you gonna hit up the Philly area again?

Am
