Big changes for Sprung from Cages

It’s becoming more and more clear to me that I won’t be doing much traveling this summer. It’s obvious by now that the store is not going to sell in time for me to move this fall. I’ve come to terms with that and have even told my landlord that I’ll be here for the winter.

I, then, have two trips that I could do this summer. The first is the “Down the Shore” trip. The second is the “Carpetbagging the South” trip. The two other trips that I am figuring that I won’t be able to do is the New England/Canadian one and the Scoot 66 one.

But there is another option. I could do the Jersey and New England ones this summer and put off the Southern and Route 66 ones till next spring and summer.

And, as of this point, that scenario is sounding like the best thing. I’d extend the New England trip for a bit. There are three people (so far) that I’ll be visiting. I could make it last for about two weeks. The Jersey trip could be extended a bit too. We’ll see.

Then, next spring and summer, I’ll have the southern and scoot 66 trips to do. I’ll probably add some stop overs and fun things like that.

This is a huge change in plans. And it’s a lot like swallowing pride to admit that I kind of failed on the whole Sprung from Cages idea. I mean, I guess I could look at it as just extending it to Sprung from Cages Tour 2007 – 2008.

I’ll finalize all this stuff as soon as I’m finished with moving my shit out of the old place.

And this weekend is the Gettysburg scooter trip. That is, if I can make sure that the damn thing isn’t going to blow up on me again. That will be determined Thursday when I can finally test out the new jetting. I leave Saturday morning.

I just can’t believe that I will have to wait another nine or ten months to leave this town for good.

One response so far

More moving and a tragedy

This move is taking a hell of a long time. But at this point, the only thing left at the house is a few things for the thrift store and some stuff to be cleaned. Plus some furniture that John Messer will hopefully pick up. There is maybe eight hours of work left here. And about four more days to do it. I’m hoping to spend a good three hours there tonight.

But one of the tragedies of moving is losing things. I have only lost one thing this time around. It was this:

ksb-krsna-sangati.jpg

That’s the $35 Krsna-sangati by Sivarama Swami. It’s the third volume of the Krishna in Vrndavana series (the first two are out of print). I bought it in New Vrndavana last year, read some of it and have been itching to read it again. But where is it?! I have no idea. I have looked everywhere. It’s ridiculous. It’s not like this is a book that’s high on the list of a book thief. Clearly, I lost it. So it serves me right for not keeping better track of it. I just don’t understand how I can lose a brightly colored 700 page hardback book!

There is one more place that I could check and will today. But I’ve already been through those books, so I’m doubting that it’s there. If I can’t find it, I’ll have to reorder it, along with his new one:

Suddha-Bhakti Cintamani: The Touchstone of Pure Devotional Service, The Introduction to Krishna in Vrndavana. Not really sure why he wrote the introduction last, but now the four-book trilogy is complete. The second volume is being reprinted, but who knows about the first.

Anyway, it’s lost and I’m bummed. Poor, poor pitiful me.
